Do you have a detectable HIV
viral load even though you are taking HIV medications?
Volunteers wanted for a research
study
The Conant
Medical Group is conducting a research study of a new
investigational HIV medication called Apricitabine or ATC made
by an Australian pharmaceutical company called Avexa.
ATC is being tested to determine whether or not this
experimental drug provides additional anti-HIV benefits compared
to 3TC (Epivir) for people who are resistant to 3TC or FTC
(Emtriva).
Requirements
·
Viral load greater than
2000 copies/mL
·
Currently on an antiretroviral regimen containing 3TC or FTC for
at least 2 months
·
Resistance to 3TC or FTC
Qualified
participants will receive study-related medical exams and
laboratory tests related to the study, including a CD4 count,
viral load, Hepatitis B and C antibody test, and resistance
testing (genotype and phenotype).
All study
related visits and study drug will be provided at no cost.
Compensation will be provided for each of the up to 15
scheduled study visits.
